The Challenge

The school had been very poorly served by a previous supplier who failed to install agreed units, failed to maintain existing units, missed delivery deadlines and generated erroneous invoices causing an administrative headache.

The school asked us to develop and implement a plan that provided the right mix of water dispensers across multiple locations. We also needed to meet a variety of user requirements while focusing on POU (point-of-use) units wherever possible to reduce environmental impact

4 companies were asked to provide a proposal and Cactus Water Systems was chosen.

Our Solution

  • Two detailed site surveys across all locations with the main objectives being to ensure the coolers in each location were correct for the use need at that site and, where possible, to upgrade bottle units to POU.

  • A broad mix of reliable units meeting various different performance criteria were proposed & agreed.

  • Reduced the number of bottle coolers from 16 to 7, helping to lower maintenance needs and environmental impact.

  • Took over the maintenance of a small number of school-owned units. Over the last 18 months these have been upgraded.

  • Installation coordinated with school facilities staff over the Easter break

  • Comprehensive service programme in place to ensure prompt engineer attendance, with detailed service reports and maintenance records provided after each visit.

The Result

  • Students, staff and visitors now have access to a reliable water source across the school sites

  • Units installed on time, with minimal disruption

  • Reduced plastic use and environmental impact due to fewer bottled coolers and increased POU units.

  • Lower maintenance burden and running costs thanks to optimised unit selection.
